Garden Journal

It's been fun times in the garden this week.  The summer brings all outdoors.  It's become harder and harder to convince the boys to come in at night..... so why bother.... the tramp makes a great outdoor bedroom.

My childhood trampoline was a pillar for fun.  It even followed me into my teen years, where it became a huge hangout spot with friends.... I'm glad to see it seems to have the same role for my own children.

I love excitingly waiting for each seed to spring from the soil.  Reseeded flowers are blooming, and it looks like we have been lucky this year and will have to do some thinning (isn't this always hard?).

I decided to add another box this year (even if it is a mix of wood scraps) after realizing I forgot to plant some new species of cucumber seeds I really wanted to try ... that and the gift of some extra plants from a sweet neighbor that I couldn't possibly turn away.  It's a good fit, and gives us room for growth in the future.

Also giving us growth for the future is our current project.  It's something we've both wanted for years.... it's still in the works, but I bet you can guess what it will be.

Hopefully it will work better than our last attempt.... energy efficient windows & the last minute decision to forego skylights (snow load concerns), put an end to our first green house efforts (we needed more storage anyhow).

Scarecrow Burnsy has made a reappearance, which marks full garden mode.... I wonder what new things the garden will bring next week?  Until then, happy gardening!!!
